Meditation from Omraam Mikhael Aivanhov
12. March 2011 by admin.
“Clearly, those who want to be successful in life must possess certain abilities and must work. But that is not enough. They must also be discerning, so they know what direction to take, who to associate with, and so on.
And how do they acquire this discernment? By being selfless.
Yes, for selflessness allows humans to see clearly. Selfishness, greed and cupidity, on the other hand, blur their vision and cause them to lose their clearsightedness: they are so obsessed with seeking their own personal interest that they see what is happening around them as if through distorted lenses. And since they do not see reality as it is, what they think they are doing in their own interest they are actually doing to their detriment.
For, contrary to what people may think, it is not necessarily selfishness that helps them settle their affairs, but selflessness.”

Doing Right Each Day… A Meditation from Omraam Mikhael Aivanhov
14. January 2011 by admin.
“In order to do what is right each day, it is important to keep a check on how much value you give to feeling and how much to thought. Observe yourself: see how often your feelings, passions and instincts are in charge, and your thinking has retreated and just allows what is happening; or else, it intervenes, but only in order to allow your passions to fulfil their aims. Well, that is called living in anarchy. When thinking does not fulfil its role, that is, when it is not applying itself to controlling feelings and desires, there is anarchy.
Have you ever wondered why Cosmic Intelligence has placed the head at the top of the body and the heart a little lower down? It is the same with a ship: the captain is up above, and the engines are below. The engines make the ship move forward, but the captain decides on the direction. We also have an engine, our heart, which drives our ship. But where will the heart go if it is not directed by the head, by the captain, who is up above, watching and giving orders so that the ship arrives safely?”

Good morning!
19. October 2010 by admin.
Welcome to Autumn, the air is getting crisp and cold; leaves crunch under my feet when I walk. I’ve been enjoying the look of the multi-hued leaves as they fall from the trees. I’m preparing to do my last clippings from my herb plants outside so that I can cover them with mulch to protect them during Mother Nature’s winter blanket so they may re awaken in the Spring. Are there things you could be doing to prepare yourself for the upcoming winter? Even if you live in a milder climate, there’s always things to be done not only physically but spiritually to prepare yourself for the season of “dormancy”. Self-reflection is perfect for winter months. Sit down, light a candle if you like and think about what you’d like to improve about yourself in the upcoming year. Write it in a journal or on a paper. If you write it on a loose paper you can burn it in a fire safe dish and release it to your creator like a prayer. If you want to hold onto it, look back in the months to come and see if you’ve achieved your goal! Many blessings!

A typical visit to an atypical place
21. May 2010 by admin.
When you come to visit me whether it be for counseling, tarot, Reiki or to set up a ceremony, many things take place. First, I warmly greet my clients at the door as my office is on the second floor of my home. I have been told that they feel instantly at peace when I bring them in and my home makes them feel safe and secure. We go up to the healing room. Stepping within it is like a space out of time, it is smudged between each client so that no remains of one meets up with another. Clients can see some of my artwork for sale on the walls, there are candles available for sale, but not too much clutter. They start out sitting on the comfortable futon if they’re here for something other than tarot. For tarot, the table is already set. Tea or Crystal infused water may be offered.
I get to know the clients first. I introduce myself and tell them a little bit about me so that any discomfort or shyness can be easily overcome. Then it’s their turn to share with me what they’d like to, and why they’ve come to see me. There may be paper work for them to fill out (unless it is mailed previously) and we go over what the service they’ve asked for entails. I answer any questions and then we get to the task at hand.
If it’s a Reiki appointment, they’re asked to lay (face down or up) on my comfortable Reiki table. Adjustments are made to the headrest, blankets and slippers are provided for those that get cold. Clothes always stay on. Pillows are available if they need their heads up further than the supportive headrest provides. They usually close their eyes and many fall asleep. I smudge with sage (or if other scents are requested or none at all for sensitive people) the person’s aura (energy field) and then state my intention for healing, serenity, peace and begin work, starting at the head. The only touching I do is to first make contact with the head. I always ask permission first, and if they prefer not to have their head touched, I keep my hands, palm down a few inches from their body. Some people are comfortable enough and allow me to touch their foreheads, ears, and place my hands over their eyes. I never touch inappropriately as that is not the way of Reiki. It is not touch massage. It is sending and receiving energy, the hands being like conduits to the body.
What does one feel? Most people have mentioned waves in certain areas, or the moving of heat from one place to another. This is the energy doing its work, moving out blockages in the client’s energy systems (chakras). The session usually runs about an hour total. I have had clients ask for longer double sessions or a combination of counseling and follow up with Reiki services.
For shamanic services, the client will again lay upon the table as comfortable as possible. He or she will close their eyes and I will use my rattle to wake their aura for dream state. I then start a drumming cd or drum myself to put them in a state of complete comfort and relaxation. I then lie upon the futon and go into the various worlds to do what must be done. Upon re-entering this realm, I may bring back with me shards (please see shamanic information on my website) and place them back into the person who is lying there. Tranference can sometimes be felt. I’ve been told by clients they feel a spark or more full. I usually follow up with any visions I’ve seen and further instructions for the person.
Why would one get a shamanic journey done? Sometimes we feel incomplete. We may feel a sadness that is apparently inexplicable. A shamanistic practitioner does not see “disease” as medical, but as spiritual.
At no time are my clients given any hypnotic or hallucinogenics. At no time are my clients put under “hypnosis” or told to perform in anyway.
These services can last from usually an hour to 2 hours depending on the need. Payment is per visit, not per hour.
Hope this helps you understand a little bit of what I do. Book early, the summer is coming fast!

Website has been updated! Cleaner, Easier to use!
12. February 2010 by admin.
I’m very happy with the changes made to the Mother Earth Market website. Now each page is cleaner, and easier to navigate along with clickable “Return to the Top” functions so you don’t have to scroll up and down as much. Also, for Soy Candles, Bath Salts and Handmade Soaps, individual pages are linked to them to show you scents available and descriptions of those scents. I will be updating them more during this week. When things in the “What’s New” area transfer over, the scents will be linked as well so as not to clutter up the shopping pages. Enjoy the new pages, and as always, anything you don’t see, please email me or call, I’m sure I can find it for you!
Many Blessings,
Rev. Kimberly

Conscious Shopping
1. February 2010 by admin.
When you go to shop, you’re overwhelmed by the variety of available stores, brands, sizes, colours… it can be very exasperating to say the least. People tend to become “numb” to the idea of where their items come from and how these items are made.
When mass marketing stores like Walmart, Target, Dollar Stores came into power, people as a whole changed their shopping habits. Quantity overtook quality. Mass produced clothes to toys to even the food you put on your table. You have many selections, but have given up on originality, quality and a sense of connection with whom you bought from.
It isn’t easy to divert your attention from those products when advertising uses catchy tunes, flashy commercials, famous actors and sports stars to endorse products. We have become gluttons in our shopping styles.
But, it can change. You can change. The World indeed can change.
Handmade items are making a comeback because people are looking for new spins on things and realizing the quality that goes into those handmade goods. Think about a mass produced sweater… now compare it to a hand knit sweater. Which would you prefer? I know I’d choose the hand knit sweater. It lasts longer, and it has more character than a mass produced sweater that often does not meet the expectations I would expect where quality is concerned. I have sweaters that I wore as a small child that my grandmother knit me. I then put those sweaters on my children and am saving them for their children. You see, things were made to last, and the stitches were cast with love.
When you buy something handmade or local, there’s a face, not a machine that goes with that item. You earn a sense of pride that you have done something good for yourself and the small hand made business you bought it from. You have something original and of a special quality that you would not receive from a chain store.
Buying local is pretty self explanatory as well. When you buy from a local business you’re putting revenue back into your local market. Money stays where it should, and everyone thrives. Small business owners give back to their communities in many ways and get to know their clientele on a more personal level then most big businesses. You gain a rapport with your customer base, and you become an anchor in the local community.
Eco conscious buying is as important as local and handmade. When you buy from a green certified business you know that that company and YOU are leaving a smaller carbon foot print, thus helping renew natural resources. When you see a Green Certified business, don’t just take for granted that because they have the seal, they follow the guidelines, but do a little homework. For example, does said business practice what they preach? Things like minimal, recycled packaging, items they use in their products, etc.
Making small changes to how you buy things doesn’t have to happen overnight. Just take a personal challenge. Buy yourself one item from a local, handmade, green business and see what you think. I think you’ll be pleasantly surprised, and you will find that you’ll want to continue to buy this way.

What is your impression of Tarot Readings?
13. January 2010 by admin.
Have you ever had a tarot reading done? If so, what did you like or dislike about it? Would you have another done?
Tarot has been steeped in mystery for centuries, dating back to reading playing cards to tell the future. Each suit would represent an element and each number would have its own interpretation into the meaning. Even the colours: red and black had their own representation.
Today’s tarot cards are as varied and unique as individuals. Some people like to stick to the Rider-Waite decks as they are basic and the best to learn on when just starting. Others like to try other decks, including Animal Tarot, Celtic Cards, the list goes ever on.
I collect decks. I have about 10 decks of different sorts right now. I like to see the artist’s interpretations on what each card represents.
Today’s tarot readers do not necessarily use tarot for “fortune telling”. Tarot can give insight into where a person’s been, where they’re at now and where they’re heading. The cards can bring out repetitive patterns that the client has had in their lives, making them more aware of bad habits, relationships, jobs, etc. It goes beyond simple “Will I marry a tall dark handsome man”or “Will I be rich”.
I get people from all walks of life coming for tarot counseling. The cards connect the reader to a subconscious state of mind, the pictures giving clues into the querent’s life.
When I do readings, I don’t ask for personal items, birthdates, etc. I am not saying those that do are not reliable, just for me personally, I don’t need any of those things. I simply have the person ask their questions and then I read the cards for them.
Remember too that the cards are awareness, not set in stone. I love to see clients’ faces when they see something that perhaps they knew, but didn’t want to face themselves. For example the cards continually show discord with a motherly figure, and the client may say “Wow, that’s true! I don’t get along with my (mom/grandmother/mother in law) and that has affected my relationship with (My family/my spouse/my children/other women).”
I feel tarot can truly be validated as a wonderful form of spiritual direction and counseling. I hope that by going to reputable tarot readers, people will push aside the ideas of parlour tricks and see the tarot as a valuable tool.
